Portable Inspection System
The Cobra Mainline Portable Inspection System is designed to operate a crawler and pan and tilt camera. It has all the features of a truck mounted unit.
Portable Control Console
The Cobra control console is installed in a waterproof, high impact resistant, lightweight, shipping case. The monitor/VCR combination, together with all the controls, are neatly packaged in the console panel. A receptacle is provided on the panel for the operation of a Cobra pan and tilt camera.
Electronic footage display and keyboard are standard. The CDL 8000 data logger is available as an option. A 20' interconnect cable is provided. Longer interconnect cables can be ordered. The portable console operates on 110VAC and weighs 45 lbs.
Portable Reel Assembly
The portable reel is installed on a light weight high strength hand cart for ease of handling. The reel can hold up to 1000' 3/8" video cable. The reel is normally supplied with 600' of 1/2" Kevlar cable.
Free wheel electric clutch, electric rewind gear motor, electric brake, power level wind and electronic footage counter are standard on the Cobra portable reel. The reel rewind speed control and footage LED display panel are installed in a waterproof box installed behind the reel.

DATA MANAGEMENT SOFTWARE
Windows Based software package capable of accepting the Data logger information from the field without the need to re enter the information. The database software shall be CIMS™ developed by Cobra Technologies Version 2K or Higher, Y2K compliant to include serial data card reader for use on office PC.
DATABASE SOFTWARE for Office
The Data Management software shall be able to be used as a stand-alone single user database or may be operated on a NT or Novell network. The software shall be designed to be used in a field environment and shall accept data and images (if specified). The database shall be designed to store and manage data from pipeline inspections data collection equipment and cleaner trucks (where specified).
The database shall have the capability of digitizing and storing single frames of video images and live video "mini-movies" as well as collecting, storing and printing pipe line inspection data for display and report generation. It shall not be necessary to enter data into the database by manual means. The software shall be fully Y2K compliant.
The database shall be capable of linking MPEG 1 compressed video stored on a video compressor installed in the truck to allow the database to locate the video files linked to the database when the video is transferred to either CD or DVD media.
Video playback in the database of the MPEG files shall be accomplished on a Windows media player thereby permitting any user with a PC to play back the video inspections from the CD/DVD.
The included software package shall be a 32bit Windows 98/NT application and shall be fully Object Oriented. It shall be capable of printing pipeline inspection reports with captured images of defects or other related significant visual information on a standard inkjet or laser color printer.
The software shall have the following features:
- Image Capture - Digitized picture images shall be stored on the system controller's hard disk drive. The picture files shall be exportable to Industry Standard JPEG Format and will be transferable by disk to an external personal computer utilizing standard viewers and printers. Any captured image shall be able to be printed on the ink jet color printer. Picture files will be stored and linked to the inspection data. The software shall be capable of capturing images from field-generated videotapes, which may be viewed on the office computer using the applicable video hardware interface.
- Video Capture - Selected live video sequences shall be captured and stored on the system controller's hard disk drive. The compressed video files clips shall be stored in industry standard MPEG format and are transferable by disk to an external personal computer utilizing standard viewers.
- Database - The system software shall be an MS Windows 98 based data acquisition system incorporating an ODBC windows standard database format. Inspection files shall be able to be exported into other databases and other computers. Information on software file headers format shall be provided to allow the inspection database to be customized with the correct headers into the users unique application or software. The user selectable defect codes shall include standard defect codes and user defined codes. All graphic and tabular reports to include graphic of pipe showing all observation points and pertinent data in an intuitive graphic format.
The software shall incorporate a consistency check, this will generate an error log when run against a data set and will provide the user with the ability to quickly check the accuracy of the data coming in from the field without the need to check the data manually.
- Data Sorting/Filtering - The program shall be capable of sorting all data stored using generic sort key and user defined sort fields. A comprehensive filtering program shall be provided allowing the filtering of data on any field in the database.
- Report Generation - In addition to conventional reports the software will provide:
- Cross Section and Plan View print outs with all defects
- Cross Section and Plan View print outs with connection data
- Video Image Reports with appended data
- Footage reports with footage totals for specific time periods
- Inspection Results and Rehab Recommendations Reports
The conventional and cross section/plan view graphical reports shall be displayed and printed in color if required. The user shall be able to select and configure the color for each defect.
